Your first avatar, the fastest path

The fastest path from a fresh account to a saved avatar with a face and a voice: pick a template, keep the defaults, choose a face, pick a voice, finish.

What you will have at the end

One saved avatar with a name, a face, a voice and a backstory, ready for its first video. The fastest route is a template with the defaults left alone. You can edit any field later from the avatar page.

You do not need a plan for your first avatar. Its face and voice previews run on the free wizard allowance, and the plans are asked for when you start a second avatar: the line beside Finish avatar then reads “Pick a plan to add more avatars. Your first one is yours.”

Step 1: Open the avatar builder

  1. On Getting Started, click Create Avatar. Or open Avatars in the sidebar and click + New Avatar.
  2. You land on How do you want to build it? with three paths: Start from scratch, Import your avatar, and a row of Featured templates in your niche.
  3. Click a featured template you like. (Want to see them all? Click See all templates and use the search and the niche tabs.)

Step 2: Identity (keep the defaults)

The Identity step opens as Customize your template. Every field is pre-filled: the description, the reference images, the category. For a first avatar, read it once and click Continue to story →. You can change anything, but you do not have to.

Step 3: Story (let the AI write it)

  1. Under Backstory, click Ideate for me. Three angles appear. Click Use this → on the one you like.
  2. Under Target audience, click Generate and pick one of the options.
  3. Click Continue to face previews →.

This click starts the face generation, and that is where credits are used for the first time: one credit per face, three faces.

Step 4: Face (pick one)

Three face tiles render one by one, with a countdown that starts around “~75s left”. While you wait, name the avatar in the Name field on this step, or click Brainstorm 5 names and pick one.

  1. When the tiles land, click Choose on the face you like. It shows ✓ Picked.
  2. Not quite right? Click Refine on a tile, pick a chip like Hair or Expression, type what to change (“Straighter hair, slightly older, add thin glasses”), and click Apply to This Face. The refined face is added as a new card next to the original, so nothing is lost. Each refine is one credit.
  3. Want a fresh set? Click Generate 3 more. It confirms the cost (three credits) and starts a new set you can switch between.
  4. Click Continue to voice →.

Step 5: Voice (three previews, one pick)

  1. The Voice description drafts itself from your face, story and references. If it is empty, click Suggest with AI.
  2. Click Generate 3 voice previews. One credit for the three.
  3. Press play on each tile. Click Use this voice on the one that sounds like a real person without trying.
  4. Click Finish avatar →.

If you want to move on and pick a voice later, click Save without voice. You will be asked to generate one before the first video.

Step 6: Done

The done screen confirms the avatar is saved and offers Make your first video. Saving also builds the Reference Pack, six angles of the chosen face, and charges six credits for it.

Your avatar now lives on the Avatars page. Open it to edit the backstory, add signature phrases, generate scenes, or change the voice.

Your first video picks up from the done screen. If you would rather design a character from a blank page, see Create an avatar from scratch.

Frequently asked questions

How many credits does the first avatar use? +
About ten. The three face candidates are one credit each, the three voice previews are one credit together, and saving the avatar charges six credits for the reference pack of angles. Refining a face or regenerating a voice adds a little more. The trial's 15 credits cover one full build.
Can I come back later and finish? +
Yes. The wizard saves a draft as you go. Leave with Save and exit in the top bar, and the next time you open New Avatar you will see a Continue a Draft prompt. Drafts also appear under the Drafts tab on the Avatars page, ready to resume where you stopped.
