What a template is

A template is a ready-made character: a description, reference images, a category, a backstory and an audience, all pre-filled. Picking one opens the same wizard you use from scratch, with every field already written. You change what you want, then generate the face and the voice as usual. Nothing is created until you save.

  1. Open Avatars and click + New Avatar.
  2. On How do you want to build it?, scroll to Featured templates. Four cards, with templates from your niche first. Each card shows the niche, the name, a short blurb, and chips for gender, age range and origin.
  3. Click a card. The wizard opens with that template loaded.

Browse every template

  1. Under the featured row, click See all templates.
  2. Use the niche tabs at the top to filter: Money & Wealth, Podcast & Hot Takes, Motivation & Mindset, and so on. Each tab shows a count.
  3. Search with Search templates by niche, vibe, persona… to jump to a name or a mood.
  4. Sort with Most popular, Name A to Z or Name Z to A.
  5. Hover a card and click Use →, or click the card and then Use this template in the footer bar.

Nothing fits? The Build from scratch card in the grid sends you to the empty wizard.

Customize it in the wizard

The Identity step opens as Customize your template with the note “Every field below is pre-filled from the template. Change anything.” From there, it is the standard wizard:

  1. Identity. Edit the description, swap or add reference images (up to six), or change the category. Click Continue to story →.
  2. Story. The backstory and target audience are pre-filled. Rewrite them, or click Ideate for me for fresh angles. Click Continue to face previews → (this charges one credit per face).
  3. Face. Three faces render from the template’s brief. Name the avatar here, then Choose a face, Refine it, or Generate 3 more.
  4. Voice. Generate three previews, pick one, and click Finish avatar →.

The full walkthrough of each step is in Create an avatar from scratch; the same buttons apply.

Renaming the avatar is expected. The template’s name is a placeholder, and the heading and the breadcrumb follow whatever you type in the Name field.

Tips

  • Keep the template’s category unless you are moving the character to a new niche. It drives the featured content and the followed accounts you see later. If you are still choosing, which niches work breaks each one down.
  • Edit the description before the Face step, not after. Faces are generated from it, and a change afterwards means a new batch and new credits.
  • If you want the template’s look but your own face, use Exact match with your photo in the reference grid, or go back and pick Import your avatar instead. See Import your own face.

Frequently asked questions

Does a template copy an existing avatar? +
No. A template is a starting base, not a clone. It pre-fills the description, reference images, category and story, and you edit anything before a face is generated. Two people who pick the same template and change nothing still get different generated faces, and the name, voice and backstory are yours to set.
Why do I not see my niche in the featured row? +
The featured row shows four templates, with your onboarding niche first when one matches. If none do, the row falls back to the default order. Click See all templates, then use the niche tabs at the top of the browser to filter to your category; every canonical niche has a tab, even when it is empty.
Pick a template The gallery has every template with search and niche tabs.
