Where it starts

Open Avatars in the sidebar, click + New Avatar, and on How do you want to build it? click Start from scratch. The wizard has four steps, shown as dots at the top: Identity, Story, Face, Voice. A Save & exit button in the top bar keeps a draft at any point.

Step 1: Identity

The heading reads Describe your character from scratch. There is one rule, and the page states it: fill at least one of a description, a reference image, or a category.

  1. Describe your avatar. Click a chip (Age, Gender, Country, Vibe, Look and the others) to add its label, then type. Example: “Age: 38. Gender: male. Country: Russia, lives in Miami. Vibe: confident, slightly arrogant. Look: black turtleneck, gold chain, grey beard.” The Description strength meter fills as you cover more areas.
  2. Reference images. Add up to six, by file or by pasting a link (Instagram, Pinterest, a blog, or a direct image URL). A pasted link imports the whole photo, so a tall shot stays tall and the tile shows the full frame. The toggle above the grid sets the mode: Inspiration borrows the style, Exact match uses your photo as the face.
  3. Category (optional). Pre-filled from your niche. Leave it as Other and the content is written from what is going viral instead of a category.
  4. Click Continue to story →.

Step 2: Story

  1. Backstory. Write it, or click Ideate for me for three angles and click Use this → on one. Good backstories open with a concrete fact, add a turning point, name what the character refuses, and stay under about 150 words.
  2. Target audience. Click Generate for a draft, or type it with the chips (Age, Gender, Interest, Income / life stage).
  3. Click Continue to face previews →. This starts the face generation and charges one credit per face.

Signature phrases and topics to avoid are not in the wizard. You add them on the avatar page after saving.

Step 3: Face

Three tiles render one by one with a countdown. This is also where you name the avatar: type in the Name field or click Brainstorm 5 names.

  • Choose picks a tile. It reads ✓ Picked.
  • Refine opens a sheet with chips (Hair, Outfit, Background, Lighting, Expression) and a note. Click Apply to This Face. The result is added as a new card labeled “Refined” next to the original, so you never lose a face. One credit.
  • Reroll generates a fresh variation from the same brief.
  • Generate 3 more confirms the cost (three credits) and starts a new set. Sets stay reachable through the set switcher above the grid.
  • In Exact match mode, your photo appears in a Your Uploads · Use As-Is row above the generated faces. Choose it to use the photo unchanged.

Click Continue to voice →.

If a tile shows “Couldn’t generate this face”, click Try again on that tile. Each retry is one credit. If all three fail, see Face or scene generation failed or timed out.

Step 4: Voice

  1. The Voice description drafts itself from the face, story and references. Edit it, or click Regenerate prompt for a new draft. It needs at least 10 characters.
  2. Optional: open Advanced · tuning & preview text to set Loudness, Guidance, and a custom line for the previews to say.
  3. Click Generate 3 voice previews. One credit for the batch.
  4. Play each tile and click Use this voice on your pick. To tweak one tile, type a note (“warmer, slower”) and click Regenerate under it. Generate 3 more gives a fresh batch.
  5. Click Finish avatar →, or Save without voice to add one later.

Saving and what it costs

Saving charges six credits for the Reference Pack, six angles of the chosen face generated in the background. The same six credits also buy the avatar’s first outfit: the clothes the avatar wears in the picture you picked are saved as Original outfit on the Outfits tab, labelled From your avatar, so the tab has one in it and your videos can dress the avatar in their own clothes from the first one. It lands a minute or two after the reference images and shows up on the Done screen. A complete build from scratch is usually around ten credits: three faces, one voice batch, six for the pack and the first outfit, plus one for each refine or reroll. If you were out of credits when you saved, the Reference Pack is skipped and so is the first outfit. More on it in Scenes, photos and outfits.

The avatar opens on its page, where you can edit every field, generate scenes, and start a video. Prefer to start from a proven character? See Start from a template. If you want to see what a finished AI influencer looks like before you build one, that page walks through a complete character.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a good character description? +
Specific beats vague. Cover gender, country or origin, the profession or niche they talk about, an accent if they have one, their look and wardrobe, and their vibe. The chips above the box add each label for you. A few concrete lines beat a long paragraph of adjectives.
What is the difference between Inspiration and Exact match? +
Inspiration treats your reference images as a mood: the generated faces borrow the style, not the person. Exact match uses your photo as the face itself, unchanged, and shows it in a Your Uploads row on the Face step. Use Exact match when you already have the character and want that face.
Start a blank build New Avatar, then Start from scratch, and the wizard takes it from there.
