Add the connector in Claude or ChatGPT, step by step
Add the AvatarFactory connector in Claude or ChatGPT, sign in, approve it, see what each assistant can do, and fix a connection that will not complete.
What the connector does
AvatarFactory has a connector for Claude and ChatGPT. Once it is added, the assistant can pull what is trending in your niche, shape a persona, write a reel script in that persona’s voice, and hand you a link to render the video in the AvatarFactory app. The connector does not generate images, video, or audio inside the chat.
The connector address is https://mcp.avatarfactory.io/mcp. You add it once, then it is available in every chat.
There is also a free research connector, AvatarFactory Trends, at https://mcp.avatarfactory.io/trends/mcp. It answers trend and persona questions only, with no rendering and no payment step.
Before you start
- Claude: custom connectors work on paid Claude plans on claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code, wherever the Connectors section appears in your settings. Using the AvatarFactory connector in Claude needs an active AvatarFactory subscription. The 1 dollar trial counts, on Starter, Creator or Influencer.
- ChatGPT: custom connectors need Developer Mode, which is available on paid ChatGPT plans on the web. Connecting AvatarFactory to ChatGPT is free and does not ask for a plan.
Connect to Claude on the web or Claude Desktop
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://mcp.avatarfactory.io/mcpand confirm. - A window opens titled Connect AvatarFactory to Claude. Enter your email and click Continue with email, or use Continue with Google or Continue with Meta.
- New to AvatarFactory? Add your full name and a password and click Create account. Returning? Enter your password and click Sign in. If we email you a verification code, type it and click Verify and continue. The code expires in 10 minutes.
- If your account has no subscription yet, the window asks you to start the 1 dollar trial. Click Start your $1 trial, complete checkout, then click I’ve completed payment, continue.
- On the screen Allow Claude to use AvatarFactory?, check the signed-in email and click Approve and connect. Click Deny to stop.
Start a new chat and ask Claude to pull your niche trends. The AvatarFactory tools are listed once the connection is made.
Connect on Claude Code
Claude Code adds the connector with one terminal command. The exact command is on the Claude MCP page. Run it, start Claude Code, and run /mcp to confirm AvatarFactory is connected. The sign-in and approval steps above then run in your browser.
Connect to ChatGPT
The ChatGPT MCP page carries the same setup with screenshots.
- Open Settings, then Connectors, then Advanced settings.
- Turn on Developer Mode.
- In Connectors, create a new connector and paste
https://mcp.avatarfactory.io/mcp. - Click Save. Sign in to AvatarFactory in the window that opens and click Approve and connect. No checkout appears.
- Start a new chat, open the tools menu, and enable the AvatarFactory connector for that conversation.
In ChatGPT the connector is limited to trend research and your account status. Persona ideation, hook writing, script writing, avatar lists and publishing are available through Claude.
What Claude can do once connected

Trend research and ideation are included with your plan. Writing a script counts against your plan’s allowance. Building an avatar and rendering the video happen in the AvatarFactory app and spend credits the usual way.
Warning: The connector never posts on its own. Publishing runs only when you ask for it in the chat.
If the connection fails
- “Your session expired. Please start again.” Close the window and add the connector again.
- “We couldn’t find your subscription yet. Complete the $1 trial, then continue.” The account you signed in with has no active subscription. Finish checkout, then click I’ve completed payment, continue. If you paid on another device, refresh the page.
- “Your payment is still processing. Give it a moment, then continue.” Wait a minute and click I’ve completed payment, continue again.
- The tools do not show in the chat. In ChatGPT, enable the connector inside the conversation from the tools menu. In Claude, start a new chat after approving.
